How To Achieve Your Goals In 2017

I’m so excited for 2017. There is something so invigorating about starting a fresh, new year. I believe we can set new goals at any time. You don’t need to wait for Monday or 2017. However, the thought of a new year & new start is so motivating. It can be the kick in the booty you need to start living your dream life.

The motivation sometimes does wear off. Why do people give up after a couple of weeks? Why is the gym packed this first weeks of January, but then it slowly gets less crowded? Here are my tips and tricks on sticking with achieving your new goals and ways to avoid losing the motivation.

First things first, your goals need to be attainable. If you set a goal for going to the gym 6 times a week, but you haven’t been to the gym in 5 years, then that goal may not be attainable. It is great to have dreams & aspirations, but if you want to really achieve your goals in 2017, then take some time to reflect on whether or not your goals are achievable.
Next, write them down. I know, I know. You have your iPad, smartphone, or computer to click away & type up your dreams. However, there is something about writing your goals down in a notebook or bullet journal that makes it feel more real. Now don’t get me wrong, if you prefer to type your goals, then that’s great. I definitely recommend picking up a pen & trying writing them down though if you haven’t tried it already. Bonus points if you write them down in adorable stationery.

Next step, reflect on the time period that you would like to achieve these goals. Do you want to achieve your goal in 1 month? 6 months? For example, I want to travel to Europe in 2017. It is going to take a lot of saving, planning, and shopping for new outfits (hehe!), so it may not be achievable in 1 month. 8 months sounds a lot more realistic.

Finally, set some time each week to reflect on your progress and create an action plan for achieving your goals. If you want to save up & buy a new purse, then you need to take some time researching purses, taking some money out of your pay check every two weeks towards the purse, and planning when you are going to purchase it. Life can get really busy, and sometimes we forget about goals. If you allocate some time each week dedicated to your goals, then you are more likely to keep the motivation & achieve your goals in no time.

Happy New Year! I hope you have the most amazing NYE & New Year’s Day with loved ones. Cheers!
