Well, I’m going to be completely honest with you guys. I had another couple of weeks of writer’s block & lack of motivation. So it got me thinking.. what do I do when I’m feeling a lack of motivation? How do I bust out of ruts? Bingo! I should share my number one motivation tip with you guys. So keep reading to learn how I get out of this negative headspace.
My number one tip is to write down a to-do list & just try working on one task. It is so easy to become overwhelmed & not know where to start. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed with starting my tasks that I procrastinate & I don’t end up getting anything done. A to-do list will help you stay organized. It will also relax you because you will be able to write down all of the tasks in your head.
I also think it is really helpful to have a cute notebook to write you to-do lists in. Now don’t be alarmed, it doesn’t have to be an expensive notebook. (Though I do love a really nice Moleskine notebook) You can get really cute ones for a couple of bucks at Marshall’s. I find the cuter the notebook, then the more likely I am to write in it. Also, let me know if you guys want a haul of my favorite notebooks & pens.
Finally, just start with one simple task. A body in motion stays in motion. The feeling of finishing one task & feeling proud of yourself will keep you motivated to continue working on your tasks.
If you are going through a rut, remember that you are not alone! Your motivation will come back. I promise you.
