  1. Take some time to exercise

This is something that you should be doing year long, but sometimes when we get busy we put exercise on the back burner. Instead of putting it on the back burner, take some time this upcoming week to spend some time at the gym or working out in your home. The endorphins will be pumping through you & you will start feeling much better.

  1. Journaling is great for the soul

If you used to journal when you were younger or even if you’ve never tried journaling before, I definitely recommend trying journaling now. It feels so good to get your thoughts out on paper. After I journal, I automatically feel like my mind is clearer. It’s a great way to get all of your stress out on the piece of paper & feel better mentally.

  1. Take a long hot bath

Run yourself a hot bath & you should be feeling better. You may need to “soak away” the stress. I highly recommend getting some bath salts to take your bath to the next level.

  1. Talk to a loved one, friend or therapist

Sometimes we just need to get our thoughts off of our chest. Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone. Don’t be afraid to go therapy or get the treatment you need. It could be the best thing you can do for your mental health.

  1. Don’t be afraid to say no

If you feel like you have too many obligations & you never take the time to take care of yourself, you may need say no more. Make it a goal for this upcoming year to say no. There are only 24 hours in the day & you need to take care of yourself. If you say yes to everything, you will not be able to have the time to work on your mental health.

  1. Learn something new or travel somewhere new

If you feel like you are stuck in a rut & you are not feeling good mentally, then you may need to change up your routine. You could learn a new skill or you could take some time to travel somewhere new. Once you come back to your normal routine, you will feel refreshed & in a better mental state.

  1. Eat some dark chocolate

Dark chocolate has a multitude of health benefits & it’s super tasty. It’s a great sweet treat to indulge in. Dark chocolate is good for the soul.

  1. Go for a walk & don’t look at your phone

I’m a firm believer that sometimes our brains can be overloaded with information & this can affect our mental health. Take some time to take a walk outside. Really take in the landscape around you. Don’t look at your phone. This is one of my favorite ways to distress.

  1. Read some inspirational quotes

If you are looking to change your mindset, read some motivational quotes to brighten your spirits & get you feeling ready to tackle your tasks. I have compiled a list of my favorite quotes here.
