When I graduated from college, I was determined to start having better money habits. As a result, I did a lot of research on how to save money & I was able to hit some of my money goals! I wouldn’t have been able to save as much money as I did without implementing some of the money saving habits below. Keep reading to learn the 30-day money saving challenge so that you can achieve your money goals!
30-Day Money Saving Challenge
I recommend starting this challenge on the first day of a new month, but you can start it whenever! I also recommend cutting out all soda & alcohol during this month as well. It will make your wallet & your body happy.
Day 1 – Write down your money goals & how you much you would like to save
Day 2- Have a no spend day
Day 3 – Download the app: Ibotta
Day 4 – Make sure you turn off the lights whenever you are not in a room
Day 5 – Pack your lunch today & make your morning coffee at home
Day 6 – Get paid to take a survey (Opinion Outpost is a great website to use!)
Day 7 – When going grocery shopping, buy only generic or store brand items
Day 8 – Carpool with a co-worker to work or take public transportation
Day 9 – If there is a clothing item that you never wear, sell it on eBay or Poshmark
Day 10 – Avoid Target or any other store that makes you make unnecessary purchases
Day 11 – If you are looking to go out & drink, find a bar that has drink specials
Day 12 – If you are looking to make a clothing purchase, consider going to a discount store like TJ Maxx
Day 13 – Take a look at your grocery cart & put back one impulse purchase
Day 14 – Consider starting a blog or side hustle
Day 15 – Listen to a money saving podcast to stay motivated
Day 16 – Max out your 401(k) up to your employer match
Day 17 – Meal prep for the upcoming week
Day 18 – Meet your friend for coffee rather than dinner or drinks
Day 19 – Consider starting a garden to eat your own grown veggies
Day 20 – Have a meatless Monday (or can be any day!) – eating vegetarian is less expensive
Day 21 – Automate your payments to avoid late fees
Day 22 – Have a movie night in
Day 23 – Eat your leftovers
Day 24 – Only grocery shop with a grocery list (stick to it!)
Day 25 – Read a personal finance book
Day 26 – Sign up for Swagbucks
Day 27 – Buy a water filter
Day 28 – Negotiate for a lower cellphone or cable bill
Day 29 – Sell any old college or high school textbooks
Day 30 – End strong with another no spend day!
